Periodontal Disease And Increasing Its Risk With Smoking

We are aware of how smoking affects our lungs and other systems of our body. And studies showed that smoking and periodontal disease and gum disease are closely linked to each other. Smoking is one of the major risk factor for periodontal and gum disease development, tooth loss also linked with smoking. Research showed that people that are smoking are more likely have higher percentage of having tooth loss than with non-smokers. The effect of periodontal disease treatment is less likely to be successful with smokers than with non-smokers however effects may be reverse if patient stops smoking.

Proper oral health hygiene is the most important thing in preventing periodontal and gum diseases that includes brushing and flossing of teeth daily and combined with natural health care products that will prevent bacteria build up. And smokers must pay close attention to their oral health hygiene and gum disease treatments can be entirely avoided.
